Nottingham Forest FC – How to Buy Tickets as a Tourist

The City Ground, Nottingham, England

Last Updated: 4th July 2025

1. Club Overview

  • Stadium: The City Ground
  • Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham, England
  • Capacity: 30,445
  • Official Site: nottinghamforest.co.uk

Nottingham Forest is defined by the Brian Clough period when they won the Champions League two years running. They are the only club that have won the Champions League more times than they have won their own domestic league (now the EPL). Their fans are rightly proud of their achievements and will regularly sing: "You'll never sing that, Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that" (mainly sung to Arsenal), or a variation singing "You've only won one" (mainly to Chelsea, Manchester City fans, etc). The stadium itself is on the south bank of the River Trent, directly opposite the stadium of their big local rivals Notts County. Whilst the river may separate these two teams, there is a much larger ocean of difference between the two clubs. Forest are the undisputed winners of the Nottingham biggest club competition. Notts County though does lay claim to be the oldest club in world football (1862) — their jersey colors were copied by Juventus in Italy. Although Forest's actual rivals are considered to be Derby County.

2. How to Buy Tickets

You can buy tickets online: https://www.eticketing.co.uk/nottinghamforest/, via telephone +44 (0)115 982 4388 (only 9am–6pm Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm Saturdays, UK times), or in person via the ticket office which is open 9am–6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.

The club has 4 account memberships available. An account is free and you must have an account to buy tickets. The paid memberships are called: MyForest, Plus+, and Pro**. Each membership is only eligible to buy one ticket. Memberships last for one full season. It can take up to 48 hours for memberships to become active, therefore you should allow sufficient time before tickets go on sale to buy memberships.

  • Account: This gives you access to buying tickets, but no priority ticket access. It is free and is the minimum you'll need to purchase tickets. However, you will be unlikely to be able to actually purchase tickets.
  • MyForest: This membership gets you priority ticket access. It also usefully includes access to the ticket exchange where Season ticket holders can sell their unwanted tickets. This membership costs £40 for adults. The youth and child memberships each cost £30.
  • MyForestPlus+: Costs £70 and gives you second priority access to the ticket ballot. It also gives you access to the ticket exchange.
  • MyForestPro**: Costs £99 and gives you first pick on tickets. You will be guaranteed one match ticket per season with this membership.

Tickets go on sale 4–6 weeks before the match. There will always be a small number of tickets available for the MyForest ticket ballot too. In all cases tickets will go on sale at 10am (UK time).

Example Timeframe

  • 28th April: MyForestPro** can buy 1 ticket per membership. You must complete the purchase within the 48 hour window period.
  • 30th April: MyForestPlus+ members can then purchase 1 ticket per membership.
  • 1st May: MyForest members are then allowed to purchase 1 ticket per membership.
  • Afternoon 1st May: Ballot for tickets opens.
  • 5th May: Any remaining unsold tickets, and any tickets available on the Ticket Exchange can be bought.
  • 25th May: Fixture date

5. Where to Sit

The City Ground comprises four main stands:

  • Brian Clough Stand: Located on the northern side, this two-tier stand offers excellent views and houses the Family Red Zone, providing entertainment and activities for families.
  • Bridgford Stand: Situated on the eastern end, it accommodates the most vocal home supporters in the lower tier and visiting fans in the upper tier.
  • Peter Taylor Stand: The main stand on the southern side, containing the players' tunnel, dugouts, and hospitality suites.
  • Trent End: Located on the western end, this stand is known for its passionate atmosphere and houses some of the most fervent home supporters.

6. Getting There

Address: The City Ground, Pavilion Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5FJ

Nearest Stations: Nottingham Railway Station (approximately 1 mile away)

Matchday Tip: Arrive early to enjoy pre-match activities and avoid congestion. Parking is limited, so consider using public transport or park-and-ride services.

Getting to the City Ground can be hard if you aren't used to walking. You can get to Nottingham by train from other cities in the UK. There are buses from downtown Nottingham to the stadium by using buses numbered 5 to 11. You can also walk to the stadium from downtown in about 25–30 minutes (just follow signs for Trent Bridge Cricket Ground).

There is also a tram network with the closest stop being Meadows Embankment. It's then a 20 minute walk from here to the stadium. You can get a taxi from the train station. Uber does work in Nottingham.

There is limited on street and off street parking available. Be very careful of using streets surrounding the stadium due to a high chance of getting parking citations. These are the official parking lots:

There is also a park and ride available at Queens Drive park and ride (https://maps.app.goo.gl/dzjPVbkeCVjAgjSm6) with matchday parking. Nearby to this is a shopping mall (Riverside Retail Park) but it doesn't have any food or drink options.

All of these car parks operate on a first come first serve basis. If you are disabled, you should contact the club in advance.

7. Food, Drink & Pubs

There is a Hooters Bar (https://maps.app.goo.gl/fKRb4mppSGTzuznXA) available on the route from the train station to the ground. It's a 20 minutes walk from Hooters to the stadium.

There's also a McDonalds near (5 minutes walk) to the ground (https://maps.app.goo.gl/UQLTfoXE3vu3AeXf9). There's a fish and chip shop (takeaway only) nearby on Radcliffe Road (https://maps.app.goo.gl/E8Q4X3ndqxH5wHdx9). Along this road is a small strip mall of restaurants, and a pub too. (Don't get confused by the cricket stadium that is along this road!).

The Big Shed (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HTCExtE4LJ23cNe1A) is where Forest fans go before and after home games. Expect it to be busy on matchdays.

The Trent Bridge Inn is actually a Wetherspoons chain pub. You can expect it to be cheap and cheerful. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KUT2CBKhW5mqZ71J9

Whilst The Playwright pub (https://maps.app.goo.gl/15FPQvJZTjNNwNn3A) isn't near the ground, it was in this pub in 1865 that Nottingham Forest Football Club was created. And even today for this reason is still popular with Forest fans. It's worth stopping by.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem (https://maps.app.goo.gl/E1DAVuvxMZjyqNt2A) claims to be the oldest pub in England (claimed to be from 1189, yes 800+ years old). Is it old? Yes. Is it that old? Probably not. There are lots of pubs that claim to be England's oldest pub. It is very much a tourist pub, and not really a locals pub.

8. Tips for Tourists

What to Wear: Home kit or neutral colors are recommended. Avoid wearing rival team colors e.g. Derby County or Juventus (looks the same as a Notts County jersey) to ensure a welcoming experience. Forest wear red.

What Not to Do: Refrain from bringing prohibited items and avoid confrontational behavior (those deemed to be too drunk may be refused entry).

Entry Process: Ensure you have your ticket ready for scanning. Tickets can be digital tickets (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet), PDF printed at home tickets, or even proper paper tickets collected from the ticket office. There is an official Nottingham Forest app available for both Android and iOS.

Bag checks may be conducted, and bottle caps may be removed for safety. You can bring in a small camera, crutches/walking aids (if you require them), a small plastic water bottle (½ litre or approx ½ quart).

You cannot bring in umbrellas (of any size), drones, glass bottles, canned drinks, alcohol, pen knives, food, selfie sticks/poles, laser pens, laptop bags, suitcases, rucksacks, large lens cameras, baby buggies/prams. Do not bring in your own banners or flags.

Do not under any circumstances live stream the match. Take any videos before, or after, or at half time. If you are caught live streaming you will be ejected from the stadium.

Children under the age of 4 are not allowed in.

You can only bring bags that are smaller than A4 size (21cm/8.5 inches by 30cm/11.7 inches). You cannot bring large bags (or laptop bags) or suitcases.

If you are late, there are some late entry turnstiles that stay open for the first half. Most turnstiles close 10 minutes before the match begins.

Turnstiles open 90 minutes before the game commences.

Card payments are accepted inside the stadium (including Apple Pay/Google Pay).

Inside the stadium is non-smoking.

Bruce Wayne's family home (at least in the Dark Knight movie) is near Nottingham. It's actually called Wollaton Hall (https://maps.app.goo.gl/om4sbnRwCVQWx2BM8) and is located just outside Nottingham.

Sherwood Forest (that of Robin Hood fame) is actually quite far from Nottingham. https://visitsherwood.co.uk/

9. Tours & Museum

There are several options available.

Stadium and Museum Tour

The tour includes the stadium and the museum. An expert guide will take you around both in a 90 minute tour. You'll visit the soccer field, sit in the manager's seat in the media room where they hold press conferences, visit the Director's Box, enter the ground via the players entrance, explore the Away changing room, then the Home team changing room, then you'll walk out the tunnel onto the stadium soccer field. Then finally you'll visit the museum.

Stadium Tour

A guided tour of the stadium, visiting the soccer field, dugouts, the changing rooms, the players tunnel, and a museum visit.

Legends Tour

This is guided tour by an expert, soccer field access, home and away dressing room, museum visit, and a question and answer session with a retired former player.

History and Hospitality Tour

This is the same tour as the Legends tour and is the same price, but according to their website you don't get the question and answer session, so I do not understand why anyone would choose to go on this tour!

10. Accessibility

The City Ground is equipped with 74 wheelchair-designated positions (with a chair behind for any companion you need) throughout the stadium. Accessible entrances and toilets are available, and stewards are on hand to assist. Supporters requiring accessibility services are encouraged to contact the club in advance to arrange suitable accommodations. You can bring in Assistance dogs (let them know in advance by emailing: accessibility@nottinghamforest.co.uk), and there are Hearing Loops and an audio descriptive commentary (ADC) receiver (you will need to book in advance by emailing: accessibility@nottinghamforest.co.uk) available. These will then be delivered to your seat ready for you to use. You will need to bring your own headphones (3.5mm connection).

There are 5 accessible entrances located around the stadium. These are located as follows: Accessible entrances are located in each stand, and there is an additional accessible entrance at the Bridgford Stand, near turnstiles 57–59. If you are unsure where to go, please locate a steward or a member of the Welfare Team and they will guide you in the correct direction.

Easy Access seats are defined by having very few steps and generally flat access routes associated with them, whilst amenity seats also offer additional leg room. The location of these seats is spread right across the stadium with positions available in all four stands. In such instances, visitors with accessibility requirements and their companion are requested to enter the stadium via the designated accessible entrance (as displayed on their ticket or season card) rather than attempting to use a turnstile.

Hospitality Accessible Lounge

There is a dedicated Executive Box in the Upper area of the Brian Clough stand, with accommodation for 5 wheelchair users and 5 Personal Assistants, which leads to two Bar/Lounges where tea & coffee is also served; this area is served by a lift from the ground floor entrance. Club Hospitality Wheelchair user viewing spaces are also available in Hospitality areas – subject to availability. The indoor 'Legends Lounge' viewing area in the mezzanine part of the Trent End stand Castle Suite, has 12 wheelchair user spaces generally occupied by season card holders, and one unreserved wheelchair user space for a match ticket user. It is served by a lift from the ground floor and connects with the second floor, with access to food and drink.

For those fans that require accessible seating but don't have limited mobility (those with non-visible conditions), there is no segregated seating for individuals with ambulant disabilities but there are some seats which are best suited to the needs of those with specific access requirements, available to purchase online or over the phone, subject to availability.

Ambulant disabled fans can sit wherever they choose within the stadium, providing they are purchasing seats suitable for their requirements and in line with the Club's health and safety standards. In such instances, visitors with access requirements and their Companion are requested to enter the stadium via the designated Accessible Entrance rather than attempting to use a turnstile. This is to ensure that the visitor journey and matchday experience is optimised.

There are 5 accessible toilets within the seated bowl and 3 others in corporate areas that can be accessed by disabled supporters on a matchday. Accessible toilets are operated by RADAR Keys. Stewards may carry keys, but it is recommended that supporters requiring access to these facilities should also carry their own keys.

Those requiring personal assistant/companion tickets should contact the club beforehand to ensure that they can meet the requirements for proof.

Email: accessibility@nottinghamforest.co.uk

It's also worth contacting the club if you have a temporary disability (e.g. you have an injury after taking part in Gloucestershire's cheese rolling).
